Experience

Derrick DeGroot is a Klamath County Commissioner first elected to the Board in 2016 and reelected in 2020 focusing on economic development and growth. DeGroot serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the O&C Counties, President of the Association of Oregon Counties and is on the Community & Economic Development and Workforce Committee, Rural Action Caucus and Veterans Committee for the National Association of Counties. 


Family

Derrick was born and raised in Klamath County and a graduate of Klamath Union High School.  After serving in the United States Navy Derrick returned home and began a career in finance before entering into public service. 

Derrick lives with his wife Teri of over 25 years, has three children Darrin, Dylan and Annie and a granddaughter Evie.  Derrick spends his free time volunteering working with fellow Veterans and spending time in the outdoors.
