The Klamath County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce their new Junior Commissioner Program, a civics education mentoring program for high school Juniors and Seniors. The Board of Commissioners believes community engagement and civic education are vitally important to a healthy society and functioning democracy. “Through the Junior Commissioner Program, we hope to engage and inform the next generation of community leaders”, said Commissioner Dave Henslee. This semester, we have one Junior Commissioner, Ady Swanson. Junior Commissioner, Swanson will work alongside her mentor Commissioner and participate in: Board of Commissioner’s meetings, community public events and hands-on governing tasks while earning high school credits. “The program is a pilot project with Mazama High School and we hope to expand it to all high schools in the county later this year”, said Commissioner Henslee.
