[ARCHIVED] Klamath County Veteran’s Services Donates to Solid Ground Equine Therapy Program.

Klamath County Veteran’s Services is proud to provide Solid Ground Equine Therapy with a $15,000.00 one-time donation to support an equine therapy program for local veterans.

Solid Ground was founded in September 2016, by Shelley Trumbly, to enhance the quality of life of individuals with cognitive, physical, emotional or behavioral challenges by providing them with therapeutic horseback riding and associated activities. Equine-assisted therapy is a relatively new form of therapeutic intervention which recognizes that the bond between animals and humans fosters emotional growth and healing.

Klamath County Veteran’s Services Officer, Kathy Pierce said, “We’ve found that the emotional tie developed between the veterans and the horses has promoted enhanced emotional healing and easing of symptoms, for those who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  We have had great feedback from our veterans regarding this type of therapy and we are excited to be able to support this program.”
