Klamath County Community Development -
Tom Crist, Parks Supervisor
To provide and maintain public facilities for outdoor recreation, and to provide access to other public lands which offer opportunities for dispersed outdoor recreation.
During the next 5-10 years population growth and increased tourism will over burden the existing public recreation facilities in Klamath County. We will be faced with trying to improve and expand our facilities with less tax based revenue. Decisions will have to be made regarding where and how to provide what kind of parks and how to maintain them. The County will need to weigh the merits of various user fees, and concessionaires, as well as seeking additional grant sources. Future direction will depend upon the political will regarding outdoor recreation.
We believe in providing opportunity for quality outdoor recreation in Klamath County by acquiring, building and maintaining facilities that allow the public to pursue their own structured or unstructured activities. We believe in providing this type of recreational opportunity with efficient design and maintenance, and through maximum cooperation of other agencies, organizations, and private enterprise.
