Klamath County Board of Commissioners
Tom Mallams
Having grown up in Southern Oregon I have always had a great love and concern for our local Community. My parents taught me at a very young age the value of hard work. By the age of fourteen I had begun my career in the grocery business which brought me to Klamath Falls as the Manager of Tower Market Basket for a number of years.
While at Market Basket I met and married Bev Goff and fell in love with the lifestyle of the agricultural business. Our family has now been farming and ranching for over thirty years in Beatty with five generations in the Klamath Basin. It is not uncommon to see four generations working side by side in a hay field.
Not willing to be a bystander in our local community, within a year of our move, I became actively engaged in many local issues and have never slowed down. My attitude has always been, “Someone has to stand up and be involved, if not me, then who, if not now, when?”
In the many organizations I have been associated with I have always challenged myself and others to be actively involved by stepping up and lengthening our stride. I have always encouraged all sides and perspectives to be involved in finding and creating solutions. I truly believe in the old saying, “If you’re not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.” The example of our Founding Fathers was to be fully engaged, especially when our freedoms are threatened.
A wise Klamath County leader gave me four words to be my guide, “Listen to the People.”
I look forward to hearing your concerns while working hard for all the citizens of Klamath County.
