Donnie Boyd


Education

Donnie Boyd is a proud, third generation native of the Klamath Basin. Born in 1963 at Merle West Medical Center to Don and Sherrill Boyd, Donnie attended Roosevelt Elementary, Ponderosa Jr. High, Mazama, and Klamath Union High School. Following graduation from KUHS, Donnie attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. While at PLU, he met his future wife, Julie. He completed his Associates of Arts in Accounting at Oregon Institute of Technology.

Family Business

Donnie joined the family business, Floyd A. Boyd Co, in 1985. Donnie continued to work with his father, Don, and his grandfather, Floyd, for many years, and eventually took over as owner of Floyd A. Boyd Co. in 2006. In a few years, Donnie grew the business from one location in Merrill, to five locations throughout southern and central Oregon, and northern California. Donnie and Julie sold Floyd A. Boyd Co. to Pape' Machinery in 2014.

Memberships

Donnie has always been involved in a wide variety of Basin community activities. Throughout his childhood, Donnie was very active in the Boy Scouts and was awarded the Eagle Scout Badge in high school. As an adult, he served on the Eagle Scout Review Board for many years. He was also a member of the Tulelake Rotary Club, where he managed the Tulelake Jr. Livestock Auction for several years.

Involvement

Donnie was a member of the Klamath Falls City School Board for eight years, and served as board chairman for three of those years. He was one of the key organizers of the Bucket Brigade that took place in Klamath Falls during the water cut off crisis of 2001. Donnie was honored to be chosen as Grand Marshall of the annual Snowflake Parade in 2014. He and Julie were also frequent volunteers at many of the school events of their two children, Lauren and David. Donnie and Julie are members of Hope Lutheran Church.

As County Commissioner, Donnie is fully committed to working extremely hard to help the Klamath Basin become a thriving and prosperous community once again.
